Palm Beach Resort - San Juan, Batangas
It was a long weekend then, me and my friends decided to have a short/unplanned weekend getaway. But since we all couldn't be away for long, we decided to go to Batangas, San Juan in particular. I scouted for a beach resort online (through my CP) and came up with several options but it was La Luz our first choice. Unfortunately, it was fully-booked that time (we don't have reservations by the way).

So we checked out nearby resorts for available rooms. Luckily, we found one in Palm Beach Resort. It's a bit pricey (P4,850 including extra charge for 1 person) but since it was getting late, we grabbed it. The room is spacious enough though, comfortable for all three of us. It is air-conditioned with mini-fridge, DVD player and a cable TV on it.

After settling our things inside the room, we headed to their dining pavilion (we're all Tom Jones eh). By the way, bringing of foods inside the resort is not allowed, all guests are required to avail of the foods in the resort. For adults, it's P475 per person, buffet style, for dinner. Below are the photos of what we have for dinner:

buffet dinner choices (pardon the blurry photos!) - from left, clockwise: potato soup with leeks, fish pizzaiola,
breaded pork chop (very crunchy, yum!), chicken w/ mushroom, mixed seafoods, sicillian pasta and rice
love this >> buco (lots of it) pandan, fresh fruit (banana) is also available for dessert;
choice of mango or pineapple juice for drinks
After dinner, we sat on the cabanas, did some chit-chats until we felt sleepy. Did I mention that it was raining  (on and off) that time? The cold breeze and the sound of small waves rushing to the shore induced sleep in us. And since we can't do anything that time because of the drizzle, we went back to our room to rest.

The next morning, I woke up very early, around 5:00AM. I wanted to watch the sun rise and I wanted to spend some time alone in the beach too, just like what I used to do during my younger years in Mindoro. The beach is so tranquil then; it was still gloomy but the sea is so calm. I took some pictures, but what I enjoyed most is the feeling of being near the beach again; it brings back memories of my younger years. So I just sat there in the sand; reminiscing, watching some early risers as they go around the beach, taking photos of sunrise too. Ahh, I wish I could stay here forever. I wish I could have it just for myself. I wish this resort is mine. Sadly, I was just daydreaming. My friends who were already awake followed me here, and brought me back to reality. ;(

I used to do this too, riding and paddling a small boat alone, just like him!

After taking some more photos, my friends went to swim. And so I followed them too, but it's cold...brrr! It's still drizzling actually. We didn't stay on the beach for long; after 30 minutes or so, we decided to take a shower and then headed to the pavilion for breakfast. The resort's breakfast is also buffet style, P290 per person for adults. Here's what we have for breakfast:

breakfast, buffet-style (from left - clockwise: scrambled egg, boneless bangus, corned beef, longganisa,
fresh papaya for dessert, steamed rice and fried rice too.
also for breakfast - (not instant) champorado with crunchy dilis...yummm!!!
kapeng barako for drinks (not in photo)
After breakfast, we went back to our room to prepare our things. We need to leave before lunch; first because my friends have appointment that afternoon. Second, and most importantly, we don't have enough money for another meal eh. Hehe...

Palm Beach Resort may not be the best resort beach-lovers are looking for; most of them would probably avoid this especially with the pebbled/stony beach front (not the whole stretch, by the way) but I really love it. It has brought me some good memories of my childhood. And this type of resort is what I'm dreaming of; quiet, relaxing, not crowded! I'm glad I experienced being in this resort even for just a night, it's so refreshing, so relaxing, relieves some of my stresses too. I would love to go back there but it's kinda expensive, maybe next time if I have someone to sponsor my stay there. ;)
